Katie & Dave

Katie and Dave met during the summer of 2014 at their job orientation for a summer camp at Harvard University. They were paired up to roll the t-shirts for upcoming campers, which allowed them to talk for hours and exchange social media. When camp started, Dave would accompany Katie and her campers for lunch where all of the kids asked if he was her husband. A week later he was her boyfriend, and nine years later he was her husband.

Their wedding at the Lyman Estate was truly a summer oirée lifted from the pages of a novel. Part of Historic New England, the Lyman Estate recently was the backdrop for several scenes in Greta Gerwig’s film adaptation of Little Women by Louisa May Alcott. With that in mind, they carefully chose romantic details to complement the historic estate, including a custom toile design with scenes of Boston.

The day began with a heartwarming and intimate greenhouse first look in the 1804 grape house, one of the oldest surviving greenhouses in the United States. The couple shared private vows under the canopy of an old and grand European Copper Beech Tree. The guests were greeted in the ballroom with a live harpist and cello player. A la the scene of the ball at Netherfield from Katie’s favorite movie, Pride and Prejudice (2005), the bridesmaids dressed in floor-length white gowns. They carried single-variety bouquets, each individually composed of one of the flowers found in the Katie’s bouquet, and carried white parasols, adding an extra touch of elegance to the event.

During cocktail hour guests could find bespoke cocktails at the vintage VW bus mobile bar that brought a hint of nostalgia to the celebration. However, it was the Chinese Lion Dancers at the reception who stole the show! They captivated everyone with their vibrant display, and filled the air with joy. Their symbolic dance marked the union of two cultures, making their wedding a unique and memorable experience that beautifully blended tradition and love.

“As an art curator, the overall vision means everything to me. The floral applique of the Sienne Gown fit with the soft romantic aesthetic of our wedding. The shape of the gown also offered a classic silhouette that felt right at home in the historic estate. When the stylist paired the Sienne Veil with the dress, I felt my bridal vision had finally manifested.”
