Alena & Aras

Over many years of “right person, wrong time” Alena and Aras finally got it right at a Chicago basketball tournament in 2018. After three years of long distance between Detroit and Chicago, Alena made the move to join Aras and his dog in Detroit. On a perfect early winter day, with a fresh layer of snowfall, Aras proposed after a walk with Ziggy.

They got married at the Basilica of Ste. Anne de Detroit, the second-oldest continuously operating Roman Catholic parish in the United States. It was truly breathtaking! Afterwards, their reception was held at the Jam Handy, an old film studio with an industrial, cozy feel. They both grew up in the Lithuanian community, so it was fun to incorporate their culture throughout the day - dances, traditions, and desserts!

“I first saw the Calla Gown on Pinterest when I initially started thinking about the type of gown I wanted to wear. We were getting married in December in Detroit, so the weather can be unpredictable - we were expecting snow, but we got rain!

I knew I wanted to have sleeves and the stunning, floral details on the Calla immediately drew me in. The square neckline is timeless and elegant, and the side inserts added a very delicate, sweet touch. It was the second dress I tried on in Chicago and it was game over immediately. As soon as I threw my hair back and they put on the AG veil, I felt like a bride.”
